1. The Centennial of Chulalongkorn Technology Creativity: Open Learning in a Cloud

In the occasion of the 60th year of Audio Visual / Education Technology field, Faculty of Education and the Centennial of Chulalongkorn University; Department of Education Communication Technology, Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University and the Board of Educational Technology Consortium of Thailand is delight to call upon members and international guest of AECT to join and celebrate a long journey of Audio-visual and Educational Communication Technology in Thailand. Digital Learning comes to play a significant role in shifting a teaching to be a robust creative learning space for millennium citizen.

The learning is opened for all to craft their knowledge without a limitation of age, gender, race or scope of inspiration. An open learning sphere stir a diversified group of learners to be dynamically interact and empower their potential to an unlimited innovation that can be shared and elaborated.

The Organizing Committee decide to prepare for an open-directed social learning for its sustainability, therefore, seeking to manage an international forum for adapting implementing an educational framework in order to help promote the sharing of innovative ideas and technologies with the public. The goals of this forum are as follows,

International forum for the dissemination of the knowledge from experts to share the idea of update worldwide educational mainstream information and emerging trends.

Workshop on world-wide open learning technology in the world in addition to hands-on experience in the area of gamification, virtual and mix-reality.

Workshop on open learning technology, techniques, and strategies for qualitative research studies.

The discussion in small groups to get and share their views on technology innovation.

Technology Expo and hands-on experiences.

The 4-days AECT International Conference and declaration of AECT-Thailand is focused on network strengthening and emerging trends within the field of instructional technology and learning science/design. The goal of the conference is to bring a group of scholars together in a format that encourages in-depth dialogue and different perspectives on predefined topics and problems.

 

  1. ITEC 2017: International Teacher Education Conference and International Educational Technology Conference

August 16-18, 2017

Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, USA

The International Teacher Education Conference aims to provide a multinational platform where the latest trends in education can be presented and discussed in a friendly environment with the aim to learn from each other. Prospective presenters are encouraged to submit proposals for papers and posters/demonstrations that offer new research or theoretical contributions. Presentations should be in Turkish and English.

ITEC 2017 conference is supported by Sakarya University and TASET and will take place at Harvard University Faculty Club in Cambridge, MA, USA, September 6-8, 2017. Furthermore, if the presenter is unable to attend the oral presentation, video presentations are available. Selected papers will be published in TOJET. TOJET is indexed in ERIC and SCOPUS.

Continuing the previous success of iLRN events, this international conference series spans the topic range from innovative research, technologies and tools to successful services and products of immersive environments to foster learning, training and other activities in motivational and engaging ways. The objective is to uncover and discuss emerging trends and technologies, sound research and best practices, successful products and services within an international and interdisciplinary community.   1. 2017 AERA Call for Awards Nominations

The American Educational Research Association seeks nominations for the 2017 AERA Awards. The EXTENDED submission deadline for ALL 2017 AERA-sponsored awards is November 15, 2016. To be eligible for consideration, unless otherwise noted, all nominations must be submitted electronically, using the AERA award nomination e-form, on or before the deadline. The award nominations portal can be accessed on the AERA website at http://www.aera.net/awards. Listings of past awardees can be found at the same location.

Those submitting nominations should clearly identify the award for which the nomination is submitted. Specific nominating criteria are detailed for each award, as described below. Note that supporting materials may include curriculum vitae, letters of support from other AERA members familiar with the nominee’s work, sample publications, and additional information on the nominee’s accomplishments.

All AERA awards will be conferred at the Awards Luncheon during the 2017 Annual Meeting in San Antonio, TX.

The editors of the 5th edition of the Handbook of Research in Educational Communications and Technology are pleased to issue this call for chapter proposals due November 15, 2016.

The Handbook of Research on Educational and Communications Technology is now a well-established research compilation with updates coming about every five years and a stable cadre of scholars interested both in contributing as well as using the Handbook to maintain their knowledge and skills with regard to educational communications and technology. In fact, in the 20 years of the Handbook since 1996, it has consistently provided a comprehensive overview of the field of educational communications and technology. The Handbook editors want to ensure that the 5th edition continues playing this critical role in framing the field’s scholarship as well as tie that important work back into the broader agenda of educational research generally.

However, given the increasingly complex role that technology now plays in education and the growing need for clarity around what technology can and cannot do to improve learner success, it is critical that the research we do addresses real-world educational needs and is disseminated in a way that can meaningfully inform design practice. It is, therefore, becoming increasingly clear that the field’s major outlets for disseminating our scholarship should be organized around the problems we are trying to address (flagging learner engagement, poor teaching, rising costs of education, lack of accessibility) rather than the things we are using to solve those problems (learning analytics, online learning, gamification, 3D printing, and the like).

While the structure of the Handbook’s previous editions have been moving in this direction as the field has evolved, the 5th edition will make a more intentional   organizational shift with sections and chapters that focus on educational needs and cluster the field’s scholarship around the role educational technologies play in the solution of those problems, rather than vice versa. We hope this shift will more clearly tie the scholarship of our field to the broader framework of educational research by offering more sustained grounds for presenting diverse conceptualizations and inquiry models.

 2. CfP: Digital Workplace Learning – Bridging Formal and Informal Learning with Digital Technologies

I would like to invite you to submit your proposal for an edited volume on “Digital Workplace Learning – Bridging Formal and Informal Learning with Digital Technologies” to be published by Springer, New York (http://www.springer.com/us/book/9783319462141).

Interested scholars should submit a 1-page proposal to Dirk Ifenthaler (dirk@ifenthaler.info) by 01 November 2016, including author’s name (co-authors are welcome), institution, tentative title, chapter outline (max. 300 words), and five keywords. Early submissions are encouraged. All submissions will undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review who will recommend full submissions from among the proposals. Digital learning is defined as any set of technology-based methods that can be applied to support learning and instruction. Emerging opportunities for digital learning include game-based learning, simulations, Massive Open Online Courses, social networks, learning analytics, or mobile applications. For corporate organisations, digital technologies enable the implementation of customised learning environments even on small scale. Hence, access to digital technologies changes learning in the workplace through cost effective delivery modes, easy to access leaning resources, and flexible learning environments. Currently, digital workplace learning is mostly implemented as formal learning environments, for example in the form of cooperate open online courses (COOCs). Yet, the opportunity for digital technology in workplace learning is the support of informal learning and fostering enablers for lifelong learning.

The edited volume “Digital Workplace Learning” aims to provide insights into how digital technologies may bridge and enhance formal and informal workplace learning. It will feature four major themes:

Part I. Theory of Digital Workplace Learning

This section includes theoretical perspectives (e.g., self-regulated learning, formal vs. informal learning, motivation, social context) relevant to the issues and challenges educators are facing when implementing digital technologies for workplace learning.

Part II. Digital Technologies in Workplace Learning

This section includes insights into available digital technology as well as organisational requirements for technology-enhanced learning in the workplace.

Part III. Design, Implementation and Assessment

This section highlights issues and challenges for designing and implementing digital workplace learning as well as includes strategies for assessments of learning in the workplace.

Part IV. Case Studies and Innovative Approaches

Contributions to this section will include case studies, empirical research findings, and innovative examples from organisations which successfully adopted digital workplace learning.

 

Call for Proposals

Prospective authors (co-authors are welcome) are invited to submit a chapter proposal, including title, abstract (max. 300 words), five keywords, and the part of the book (see above) not later than 01 November 2016 to Dirk Ifenthaler (dirk@ifenthaler.info).

The proposal should be a previously unpublished work. Upon acceptance of the chapter proposal, the final chapter should be completed not later than 01 May 2017. Contributions will be blind reviewed and returned with comments by 01 June 2017. Finalised chapters are due no later than 01 June 2017. The final contributions should not exceed 20 manuscript pages. Guidelines for preparing chapters will be sent to authors upon acceptance of the proposal.

Proposed Timeline

The following represents a timeline for completing the edited volume:

01    November 016: Proposal due including title, abstract, keywords

02    01 December 2016: Notification and additional information for accepted authors

03    01 May 2017: Draft chapters due

04    01 June 2017: Chapters returned with reviewers’ comments

05    01 July 2017: Final chapters due
